Soul Purpose-are you living your light?

Updated: Sep 18, 2021

We now live in an age of instant gratification and constant striving for improvement. In our parents era people were expected to start a career, build a skill, and stay in it for the rest of their lives. We, however, are fortunate enough to live in a time where the workforce has an ever changing face, where entrepreneur’s can start small businesses with the click of a mouse, and people are starting careers that did not exist five years ago. So the questions many people find themselves asking now is “Am I happy?” With work hours taking up more than half of our waking life, is it possible to truly be happy if I am unhappy at work? If not, what should I be doing with myself? How big a risk can I take to reinvent myself? What do I want to do?

Enter the age of the light-worker. Many people think that the word “light-worker” is synonymous with mala beads, crystals and guru’s, and of course it is, but to me it is really a term for anyone who is using their light to fill up the world.

We are all unique, we are all here for a reason, and we all want to leave our mark on the world. We all want our lives to have some purpose; the journey is to finding it. If you love flowers and enjoy creating wedding bouquets do it, and you are working your light. If you enjoy food and spend time creating gastronomic experiences for your nearest and dearest, you are working your light. The key is to find what lights you up. So how do you go about it?

This is where the soul searching begins. What follows is a list of questions for self reflection, to get you thinking, to bring you out of your shell and into your light. You will need to be your most honest self (not your inner critic), and question whether your answers are coming from your heart, or from fear.

1. If you could start your career again, what would you do?

2. What would you like to be when you grow up (ask your inner child)?

3. If you weren’t worried about what other people would think, what would you do?

4. What could you talk about endlessly, without realising how much time has passed?

5. If money was no object, what would you dedicate your time to?

6. What gets you excited?

7. What is your secret dream/passion?

8. What are you naturally good at?

9. If you had a limited amount of time left on this planet, what would you make sure you did?

And finally, here’s the BIG ONE……

10. What are you going to do to make a change?

The thing to remember is this; the universe has room for us all. There are infinite possibilities and endless opportunities. Just because someone else has the same idea, does not mean there isn’t room for you. We all shine our light in a unique way, and even if others are doing what you do, no-one will do it quite like you.

Shine bright.
